eBay Staples Gift Card Deal

PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay currently has a decent discount on Staples gift cards. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Buy a $100 Staples eGift Card for only $85 – LIMIT 5

Need to Know

  • You should use a Chase Ink card through PayPal to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards on this purchase.
  • Shop at Home is paying 1.5% cashback.
  • You will earn 2% in eBay Bucks.

Reselling For Free Points & Profit

Staples gift cards are fairly valuable for resale. For example, SaveYa pays 84.5% and ABC Gift Cards pays 84% for these cards according to Gift Card Wiki. I’ll do my math based on the 84% payout.

  • Cost of 5 cards: $425
  • 2% eBay Bucks: -$8.50
  • 1.5% cashback: -$6.38
  • Final Cost: $410.12
  • Resell for 84%: $420
  • Total Profit: $9.88
  • Points earned: 2,125

Of course you could also use the Staples gift cards for purchases of merchandise for resale or personal use. The gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. While I don’t know how long this deal will last, they have sold about 1,000 cards in 30 minutes or so. There does seem to be a lot of stock, but sometimes these deals do end early.

Other Deals

SVM Gift Cards and other sellers have a few other discounted cards available as well. You can find all of the discounted cards here. Note that only cards sold by PayPal Digital Gifts earn 5X with Chase Ink.

Conclusion

For many this will be a fairly easy way to generate some points and a small profit for a minimal amount of time. Some people have been having issues with SaveYa and other gift card resellers, so I can’t speak to how easy the resale process will be, however I have had good experiences myself with both SaveYa and ABC Gift cards.

  1. ah, bummer. I can’t get Paypal to process the payment to Ebay. It keeps giving me an error message even after I changed password and reset. Oh well, thanks for the tip.
