Staples $300 Visa Update

Update: I did just want to mention that these gift cards do not work for the current in-store rebate promotion on Visa gift cards. Sorry to confuse anyone.

I have received quite a few reader emails and questions regarding $300 Visas at Staples, so I thought I would post a quick update. Following an amazing deal back on 12/28 where you could purchase the $300 cards at less than face value, Staples pulled the $300 Visas from stock. They have remained unavailable since then.

Thankfully this morning I can report that they are now back in stock for ordering. Just as before, you can only purchase up to 6 in one transaction since Staples limits gift card purchases to $2,000 or less per order. You can place multiple order as far as I understand.

$300 Cards Have Shipped

If you ordered $300 cards as part of that deal on 12/28 then you may have noticed your order remained in processing for quite some time. Well, I am glad to report that all of my orders have shipped and my guess is that everyone else’s have too. Make sure to check your account to see and happy liquidating!

Some people had worried that the $300 Visas were gone for good, so it is good to see them return. I think Staples make enough profit off of the fee that they will keep these cards for awhile. Hopefully they’ll discount them again soon, but I wouldn’t count on that. In the mean time they are still a good way to rack up points with a card that earns 5X!

  1. Why would anyone, other than those chasing down a spend, like $300 cards when it costs 3% in fees? 2% profit on an Ink? Say it ain’t so. It would take 17 cards, $5100 worth, to make $100. Plus time unloading them. Am I missing something?

    • Mike,

I agree. I only MS to meet a spend, or take advantage of special offers (like the BBVA 5% back periods).

Its not “worth” it to me, to spend the time to unload 17x cards, to make $100.

Thats 8+ trips to Walmart, to unload 2x at a time (before the cashiers get suspicious)…..

        • Ok. So even if you get 1.5 cents worth per UR point, its not worth it to me to buy VGC’s at Staples just to MS, with the fees per card, unless has a “special”, like last week.

          To each their own….

  2. Readers should not confuse your information with the current offer for a rebate of a $20 prepaid VISA card with the purchase of $300 in VISA gift cards. That offer is available IN STORE only and is limited to one.

    • Dan, the rebate of $20 on $300 or more visa gift card purchase offer is for In Store only purchase. I don’t know of any staples that carries $300 denominations. I’ve only been able to find $200 denominations.

Get 2x $200 and pay $413.90 and get the $20 rebate.
      so you net $6.10 profit PLUS $414 x 5 UR pt/dollar = 2070 UR points.

People like the $300 online gift cards because the fee is only $8.95. But no $20 rebate.
