$20 Amazon Fire Tablets Are Back For Membership Rewards Cardholders

Amazon is once again offering great discounts on it’s Fire 8 tablets. The offer is for targeted American Express cardholders only.

UPDATE: Works on 32GB tablets as well.  More info below.

The Offer

Use at least one Membership Rewards point for your purchase of Amazon Fire 8 HD 16GB tablets to get a discount. The offer is targeted, so you need to be eligible for this to work.

To get the offer you need to:

  • Have an American Express Membership Rewards earning card set up on your account
  • You must use at least one MR point at checkout
  • Enter axpfiretab8 in the coupon code area which should take $30 off the tablet bringing the price down to 19.99. There is a limit of 5 tablets or a total of $150 off.

Purchase Fire HD 8 – $19.99 (affiliate link)

Only the blue ones seem to be in stock at the moment.

UPDATE: It appears this also works on the 32 GB Fire Tablets which you can get for 49.99.  I think that these are harder to sell so best for personal use or gifts.

Fire HD 8 32GB – $49.99

Conclusion

These are some of the lowest prices that we have seen for Amazon tablets. If you are targeted then definitely take a look, whether it is for personal use or reselling. You need to resell on eBay or on Craigslist etc. since you can not resell these on Amazon.

You can see my posts on how I fared with reselling Amazon tablets in the past:

This is a good opportunity for people looking to get started in reselling. Remember there is always risk involved with reselling and don’t buy more than you can afford.  I am super depressed I can’t jump on this deal.  At these prices I would have made an extra $50 versus the last sale.

Let me know if you are able to get the offer to show up on your account!

  1. Have they raised the price on the Fire 8? I went to buy some today and they come up 79.99. The $30 off still comes up, but obviously it’s no longer a deal. Anyone know what’s going on?

  2. Nice post Mark, yet again reminding me of a “hole” in my wallet — no MR cards. Embarrassed to admit that even though spouse & I have long had various amex cards, we never had any that earns amex membership rewards. (and for that hole, we’ve missed out on far too many great deals this year) Ok, am thinking to close out legacy card or two. Any suggestions? Or can you point to any past m2m resources on MR cards? thanks.

  3. The system won’t allow me to buy it… maybe because I bought it on Prime day.

And what? The $5 waste fee was only for CA? I thought it was for the whole country. Next time I am shipping it to Las vegas.

    • Yeah the $5 is a California state law I believe. I think if you have done it before it doesn’t work this time. I had to try other family member’s accounts to get it to work.

  4. I sold all my 7’s and 8’s from.the last round but, Am still stuck wth the 8 32gb… it is not selling on ebay and nobody is biting locally (where I sold most of the other ones…). Anybody hada better experience for the 32gb 8’s?

    • I have never purchased the larger GB models for fear that they wouldn’t sell. Maybe take a small loss just to move it?

      • I shouldn’t have to take a loss since I had some credits from Amzn for late deiveries but, I was trying to make as much as I could. I don’t have a problem floating it but, I don’t want them to release a new model and then get stuck for good…

  5. “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.”

Same error message on 3 different accounts.

      • Honestly, don’t remember. I’ve done the Citi TYP promo & MR promo multiple times this year across all accounts, not sure which account used what currency. Like 160 something tablets worth, so probably just not eligible this time around.

  6. Code only worked for 4, probably because I had purchased one previously. Looks like the limit carried over from many months ago.

    • That is what I was showing too. Shawn said he saw Yellow too for some reason but I snagged 5 blue ones. They have sold the best for me in the past although red was a close second.
