I don’t think this has anything to do with shopping online. I think net purchases means your net amount spent – after any credits or refunds. Does anybody else read it like that?

I got this, and wonder if “eligible net purchases” is actually broader than “shopping.” The T&Cs don’t define “eligible net purchases.” Does anyone know?
Actually, I just went back to check and my offer is different, hence my question:
“Earn 2,000 bonus FlexPoints for using your card this holiday season.
Set your sights on even more rewards when you use your card for $500 in eligible Net Purchases2 from November 1 through December 31, 2018.”
It says card must be used on “eligible purchases.” Double checked the T&Cs – nothing useful there.
