Alliant Credit Cards No Longer Earn Rewards on Plastiq Payments
Plastiq is a great option to increase credit card spending. You can pay your bills with a credit card and even make a profit depending on how much your card earns. They also have promotions that lower the standard fee of 2.5%, such as this one.
But one of the issues is that not all cards work with Plastiq. American Express for example limits you to paying only services in certain categories. Visa and Mastercard usually work on almost anything. This page will help you navigate through the rules of each specific issuer.
When it comes to Alliant credit cards, it says that they will “incur all cash advance-related fees & receive no card rewards”. Neither has been true until recently. The Alliant Cashback Visa Signature for example card was a good option for these payments as it earned 3% cashback the first year and 2.5% after that. It has been earning rewards until the last few days. Now all Alliant credit cards are no longer earning cashback on Plastiq payments.
Conclusion
You can still keep using Alliant cards through Plastiq, as they are not coding as cash advance. But with a 2.5% fee and no rewards, it really doesn’t make much sense.
