American Express Platinum Card Offers Unique US Open Benefits

American Express Platinum Card Offers Unique US Open Benefits

I noticed a new Amex Offer for the US Open this morning and upon looking at the details found some pretty cool benefits for members who will be attending the Open this year. Since I’m a total Amex geek, I am extremely jealous of anyone attending the event since they can bring their eligible card to a designated Amex stand and receive the “Amex Band” (pictured above) that will enable members to pay for merchandise on site. Members will also gain access to a variety of unique benefits, freebies and experiences. Here’s the official page for complete details.

  1. The Centurion Lounge was busy but worthwhile. You have to stand in a line to check in first and give them your number to text you once space opens up. It takes about 3-4 hours to receive the text, so you’ll want to check in by early to mid afternoon to ensure a spot since they close at 8. Once you are in the lounge, you get a complimentary cocktail, including the Honey Deuce, sandwiches and other snacks, and an air conditioned space to relax for a bit before heading back to the tennis.

The Member Club was a let down. There were no complimentary snacks or drinks, only for purchase. It’s just a place to sit and relax with air conditioning.

  2. Minimum 45 minute wait to get into the Centurion Lounge. Checked the line a few times. Very disappointing.
No point in wasting all that time on a line with so much else to see and do.

  3. I went to the Open yesterday. I got my band and the radio, and checked out the club. I’m not sure why you would go all the way to the US Open to sit in a room and watch tennis on TV (the club). But you can grab a free L’Occitane hand lotion and lip balm there. I did get my $20 benefit because I spent too much money, but the benefit made it a bit more palatable. 🙂
