Amex Membership Rewards Avios Transfer Bonus

Amex Membership Rewards Avios Transfer Bonus

If you’re looking for extra Avios points, American Express is running another great promotion. You can get a bonus of 40% when you transfer to British Airways or Aer Lingus.  Let’s take a look.

The Offer

  • Special Offer: Get 40% more Avios when you transfer Membership Rewards points. This bonus applies to transfers to British Airways Executive Club or Aer Lingus AerClub.
  • Offer expires 10/1/19

What This Means

As part of this limited time promotion, every 1,000 Membership Rewards transferred will net you 1,400 Avios. The promotion should show on your Membership Rewards account when you go to the “Transfer Points” screen.

Amex Membership Rewards Avios Transfer Bonus – Analysis

40% is a great transfer bonus. You get a ratio of 1:1.4, but we have seen bonus up to 50% in the past. This is still a good opportunity to pad your Avios account balance.

Avios are quite useful for shorter flights around the world and North America. Even some longer routes make a good amount of sense to book with Avios (on routes with no full surcharges), especially considering the nice 40% bonus.

Conclusion

This Amex Membership Rewards Avios Transfer Bonus usually surfaces at least once a year.

  1. I’m looking at booking three tickets to Israel in February 2020. I have United, Delta, and American Airlines miles. I also have amex and ultimate reward. I have been redeeming miles for years but have never transferred amex points or ultimate rewards to BA or flying blue, etc to book international travel. I am a little hesitant to try it because I don’t feel confident in locating the awards, transferring the points over and getting the award seats on these flights while they’re there. I have read MANY articles about this. Any advice?
