WeWork cofounders Adam and Rebekah Neumann have committed to donating $1 billion to charity over 10 years — or they will lose some control of the company – Markets Insider

This is a strange set up and I can’t say I have seen something like this before. It seems risky to set a goal like that with those kind of stakes but all the power to them if they can pull it off.

GOODBYE, CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE. IT WAS A FUN RIDE – Travel Update

I am a little surprised to see Ian downgrade it solely because of the car rental insurance the Chase Sapphire Reserve come with since I know he loves his car rentals.  The Chase Ink Preferred is a pretty solid replacement for the CSR since it has many of the same earning rates outside of restaurants.  It also has primary car rental insurance when it is for business.  So I can see what that is his plan going forward.  Plus the CIP comes with valuable cell phone insurance and 3X earning on that as well.

The Top Backpacking Hotspots Around the World – Travel Pulse

I know we have a lot of backpackers/hikers that read the site so I thought they would enjoy this article.

  1. It’s not difficult to upgrade to the CSR – it’s difficult to downgrade/cancel then later re-upgrade/reapply. Especially as people’s financial circumstances can certainly change. Like applying late for a life insurance policy when you may no longer medically qualify.

Chase just sent out mid-year Reserve usage. I use many, many available travel tools so was surprised I’d saved (not spent) $2,200 YTD on the portal. Combined with accumulating quickly at 3x for all travel & the easy $300 credit makes it such a worthy card for moderate-heavy travel users & uses.

  2. I get a great deal of value with the Chase Travel Portal, will only drop my own CSR if they tank the 33% discount. Dude thinks is just so easy to get that card back, too….rightttt.

    • I think it depends on how you use your points. If you use them at 1.5 cents a piece then the CSR is great. Most get better returns than that transferring. I don’t think it is that difficult to upgrade to the card.
