WHY I PASSED ON A $29 FIRST CLASS UPGRADE – Family Flys Free
I see Ian’s point that for short flights it probably isn’t worth it. Especially on tiny puddle jumper planes. It may make sense for people going for status to get the better earn rates on their ticket. Although I am not sure how paid upgrades work with status.
New York City is flooding subway entrances to prepare for climate change – Quartz
This would be a shocking site walking down the streets. Proper planning is always a good thing, who knows if another massive hurricane will hit the city or not in the near future.
Where You’re Considered Wealthy – My Bayut
I always find info and charts like this interesting. Cayman Islands coming in as the most expensive place to live. I would not have guessed that.

According to their own data, Cayman Islands has the highest cost of living, so I guess you need to be wealthier to live there than in the U.S. in a place like Miami, Florida? What’s more, Miami’s median, per capita income is far, far less than cities like San Francisco or New York but its’ buying power is higher compared to Georgetown, Cayman. If the annual per capita income is roughly the same but the buying power in Miami is twice that of Georgetown, I would end up by saving more money and become wealthier in Miami, right? The exercise is far more complex than that. And again, we don’t know how wealth is defined. I am more concerned about what things cost abroad compared to Los Angeles, so I go to numbeo.com for comparisons. For me, cost of living is a better indicator how much better or worse I would be living in a foreign country (excluding many other considerations, like crime). Personally, I don’t care about tons of billionaires living in the Cayman Islands. They should be outliers in the study. You can use numbeo.com to do many comparisons of cost right down to the cost of a Big Mac in two different cities! Lots of data on their site.
Great info Rick I am going to have to check out numbeo – could take me down the rabbit hole 🙂
