ANA First Class & Business Class Award Tickets Just Got Cheaper – Straight To The Points
Pretty crazy that the surcharges have dropped to $2 roundtrip on flights departing from the US. Only works on their metal though and not partner flights. Should save you around $200 going forward though which makes them a very compelling option.
SoFi Looking Into Launching 2% Credit Card With 5% Categories And $99 Annual Fee – Doctor of Credit
This is an interesting rumor in my opinion. SoFi has been so rewarding for me that I would love to see them do something in the credit card realm as well. Plus you can never have too many 2% back cards! I don’t have as much of a problem with the annual fee for 5% earning like Chuck does. That is a assuming they are good categories and you get $4K a year in both. If you can max both of those out, after subtracting the fee it is still a return of 3.76% on $8,000 in spend each year.
REVENUE MANAGEMENT BE DAMNED! DELTA IS BETTING ON GIVING CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY WANT – YMMV
I think Delta has handled the virus better than any of the other US airlines. I guess you could make a case for Southwest too but their program is already kind of set up that way. That means they are playing the long game and banking on building loyalty. I think they have won over/converted some people to their ecosystem for sure. Will it pay off long term though? Only time will tell.

SW statements and execution don’t always match. Wife and her brother and sister had a cruise canceled. They had booked SW flights to get to/from the ship. Since they had bought the tickets so early, they had rebooked twice within a few days at a lower price each time (SW travel funds created).
With the new policy, SW is supposed to extend the expiration date of the ticket. Well, yes and no. They extended the remaining canceled ticket price, and one of the two price reductions, but the original price reduction has the “one year” limitation. I contacted SW about the discrepancy, via email. The response was obtuse; talked in circles reiterating their policy. And no change. So, for all you SW travelers with recent flight cancellations, check the expiration dates your travel funds created. You may be surprised.
Strange but good tip on checking vouchers to make sure.
Any thoughts on Virgin Atlantic’s survival prospects? The ANA YQ reduction is great but since the best priced first class redemption option is by using Virgin miles, I’m a little concerned about doing such an award booking almost a year beforehand.
I don’t think they will go under but that is just a guess on my part.
Hello Mark, Seems like BOA likes you to have a relationship when applying for new CC. Would a CD count and how long should it be opened before I apply for a new card?
I think a CD account would help…it is often what they ask people to get that are signing up for business cards. I would check out a checking account as well since they usually have a bonus for that.
