Articles

Changes to American Express Credit Card Terms (AMEX Send Account, Cash Advances, AU AF Refunds, Bye El Al & More) – Travel with Grant

Grant, who was a recent podcast guest, found some interesting changes with Amex while reading the terms on his recent statement. The change for earning rewards on coin purchases is a big blow.

Capital One offering miles for referrals (10K or 20K per referral up to 50K cap) – Frequent Miler

If you get the 20,000 point offer then this is a good change.  If not then I would prefer the old $100 offer over the 10K bonus.

Five Brits jailed on Isle of Man after wearing masks to buy lunch from Tesco – Metro

A crazy story.  I get that they should have been sure to know the rules before going there for work but some of that falls on their company.  I do think jailing them over going to the store is a bit extreme, especially with them wearing masks when they are not mandated for locals.

  1. Precisely why I feel there needs to be a joint international response to an international problem. For the past 6-9 months the international response has been piecemeal at best which each country making up its own laws and regulations over travel restrictions, quarantine and testing.

Whether you’re in a high prevalence or low prevalence country, you either have COVID, or you don’t. There’s no in between. I believe strong testing and tracing infrastructure, targeted quarantine protocols and consistency/coherence of policymaking between countries is key to reopening the economy in a safe way.

    • I think that is the toughest part about traveling right now. You have no idea what it will be like when you get there, even places in the same state can be completely different much less different countries.
