Amsterdam Wants to Ban Weed for Tourists – Conde Nast Traveler
Amsterdam is currently experiencing riots over the curfews placed across the country. The really strange thing about this is weed is already currently illegal in the Netherlands. As are shrooms (also sold in stand alone stores), but the government just basically looks the other way with enforcement of the law. Amsterdam has long been trying to curb tourism, doing things like removing signs etc., but this would be an interesting change. I am sure this would make a lot of young European visitors think twice about their trip.
COVID-19 Crushing NYC Hotel Industry – Travel Pulse
That’s 20 percent of all hotels and 33 percent of available hotel rooms have closed since the pandemic started. And the industry won’t recover until 2025 per the article…that is sad and crazy.

As for the article that Amsterdam wants to ban the use of cannabis from tourists, i think that is never going to happen. Because the amount of money they get from these sales is too much. Maybe they will come up only with some restrictions.
They seem hell bent on cutting down their tourism numbers. I guess the loss in revenue is not as big of a deal to them. I could see them passing it to deter people and then not really enforcing it. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
