I agree .. when I originally signed up with TD Bank, their motto was “No fees.. ever”. I even have that stamped on my (not expired) ATM card. While I certainly understand times change, to say this doesn’t irk me would be a lie.
I get that banks change and they want to capture a demographic. Then, incentivize by giving a bonus or limit transactions or amounts unless they get a regular account.
I don’t mind that elderly folks get discounts at McDonald’s or similar stuff. Income may not be easy and they are likely on fixed incomes (and yes, some can be filthy rich). But, it does irk me when you could go to “ladies night” at your local night club and they don’t pay a cover charge or drinks are 2 for 1 or free or whatever because they are women and they want to get them in the door to get guys to follow.
