CDC reverses recommendations for holiday season, admits error – Komo News
Wow, the CDC has been about as terrible as it can possibly be at getting a clear, concise and useful message out there this entire pandemic. And they continue to mess the bed! Unbelievable, whoever is in charge of PR / messaging should be fired if they haven’t been already.

How about the “The CDC makes nimble move in response to evolving knowledge about breakthrough infections and also attempts to predict future of new variants in advance of holiday travel for a brand new disease, all in hopes of preventing unnecessary death and disability.” The real story here is that we now live in a society that expects the experts to be correct 100% of the time and turns to neighbors on social media for information when they aren’t. We need to start trusting our experts again as the best imperfect source of information or we are completely screwed as a society. It is so easy to channel our frustration into cynical opinions and outrage at imperfect experts and institutions, but do we really want a society that ignores expert opinion and reverts to tribalism and “alternate facts”? I refuse to believe in a world where 2+2 can equal 5 in your neighborhood when it equals 4 in mine. Let’s all grow up and start trusting our imperfect experts again before it is too late.
That would make sense if they didn’t change their tune literally hours later 🙂
Agreed. Remember a few months ago when the CDC director got all emotional about how dangerous this was, then LITERALLY a day or two later the CDC said vaccinated people could rake their masks off? And then a few months after that they said, “Whoops, you have to put them back on now.”
“CDC Messes Up Again”
In other news water is wet, and the Pope is Catholic.
While I’m not exactly a champion of the CDC, under the previous administration they were constantly overridden, ignored, and had their work literally rewritten by political hacks. Many good people were driven off and more left in relief this year. That’s an awful lot of turmoil to recover from so maybe having some allowances for their circumstances would be the way to go.
