45 million Amex points? I would cash them out for money that can earn a real rate of return. When someone is able to generate millions of Amex points to such extent, then they can likely build up a few million more Amex points to use for travel-related redemptions even after draining the balance.
I am now curious on how many Amex points an Amex Centurion-holding relative had peaked out with holding at any given time, as the person was racking up a couple of million points a year for years with them barely used by the person earning them.
People who hoard points like this seem to often have also been heavy bank card sign-up/use bonus seekers and had lots of credit/charge cards alongside the Amex cards running up the points.
I am sure there are a lot of business that hoard them or redeem them at poor rates. My guess is most of his points is from Barstool Sports spend.
