Bonus Membership Rewards with Targeted Amex Offers
American Express is targeting select cardholders with new Amex Offers for extra Membership Rewards points on all spending. These are offers that are not limited to a specific merchant, but they involve very large spend.
Most of the time these offers are not great either, but they can be useful for those who are already putting spend on Membership Rewards earning credit cards.
The Offers
One of the best offers that we have seen so far is this one:
- Earn 30,000 additional Membership Rewards® points after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $20,000+ in one or more qualifying purchases within 90 days after adding the offer, up to 3 times. See terms.
Other version include:
- 9,000 additional Membership Rewards® points with $26,000+ spend
- 6,500 additional Membership Rewards® points with $24,500+ spend
Conclusion
Most often these offers get you less than an extra 0.5X on all your purchases. But this time around we’re seeing a better than usual bonus of 30,000 points for $20,000 spend.
That’s still not an amazing bonus on its own, but it can be useful if you’re working on a welcome bonus. The Business Platinum Card bonus for example requires exactly $20,000 in spend, so this Amex Offer would easily earn you an extra 30,000 points.
