Book Mlife Resorts with Hyatt Cash + Points Awards
Headed to Vegas? World of Hyatt members can now use the Points + Cash redemption method to redeem reward nights at participating M life Rewards Destinations. I checked Hyatt’s site and it looks like points and cash redemptions are available for all of the M Life resorts that are available for reward’s nights. Hyatt recently changed the way the cash portion of the rate is calculated. Now Combining Points + Cash requires 50% of the points required for a free night and 50% of the Standard Rate. One tricky thing about Las Vegas are those pesky resort fees. Normally resort fees are waived on Hyatt award nights but unfortunately fees are not waived at the M Life resorts.

Analysis
Thanks to the new variable cash portion of Points and Cash redemptions, the decision of whether to use cash, points or a combination is based on whether half of the cash rate plus tax outweighs the value of half the required points. Here’s an example to illustrate. As you can see the cash rate for Bellagio is $199 + $65 (approximately) in taxes and fees. Thus, the cash + points rate would be 12.5K Hyatt points and around $130. Many people value Hyatt points at well above 1 cent each so these two rates are roughly equivalent when you look at them in terms of value.
Conclusion
If you’re planning on staying more than one night, I would probably do one night cash and one night with points instead of two nights combined because you will earn loyalty points for the cash night. For tips on avoiding resort fees all together, check out this post.Â
