Capital One Partners with Hopper for New Travel Portal

Capital One and travel-tech company Hopper have announced a long-term partnership, collaborating to create Capital One Travel. This will be a brand-new, innovative customer-booking experience built for Capital One cardholders.

Hopper also announced that it closed a Series F round of US $170 million, led by Capital One. Hopper is an app that analyzes billions of prices daily to predict how prices will change, and tells customers whether to buy or wait.

Capital One Travel, powered by Hopper, will launch in late 2021. The portal will pair Hopper’s best-in-class technology and capabilities with Capital One’s customer-first, digital approach.

What Capital One Travel Offers

Capital One Travel will offer a new and innovative way to book travel, including benefits specifically for cardholders such as:

  • Best-in-class price prediction and alert technology, integrating with Hopper’s AI to provide dynamic pricing and recommendations when booking flights, hotel, and rental cars.
  • At a time when people value flexibility in travel more than ever, Capital One Travel will offer unique products and servicing capabilities to help customers easily change or cancel their reservations.
  • The portal will be integrated into the Capital One rewards ecosystem, allowing customers to both earn and redeem rewards through this Hopper-powered platform, while also leveraging Capital One’s industry-leading mobile app and digital messaging capabilities.

Conclusion

This seems like a positive development and hopefully we will see some useful booking features for Capital One cardholders. The announcement notes that the new portal will be integrated with Capital One’s rewards ecosystem. But there is no word yet on how earning and redeeming points will work with the new travel site. That will be the main selling point for those looking to maximize Capital One rewards.

  1. This is an interesting partnership. Let’s see how it will look like once it’s completed. Capital One’s rewards program should also consider adding unique travel experiences that can be redeemed through Hopper, not just flights, hotels and cars.
If this portal will be launched in late 2021, they can find out now what the customers will be looking for when booking through Capital One Travel.
