Chase Freedom 1st Quarter 5% Categories

Chase Freedom revealed the rotating categories for the first quarter of 2025. These are categories where you can earn 5% cash back, and if maximized can bring in $300 annually. Let’s see how these bonus categories work.

How It Works

Starting January 1 through March 31, 2025, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on the following categories:

  • Norwegian Cruise Lines: Cardmembers can set sail and watch rewards grow with every wave. From breathtaking views to gourmet dining, Norwegian Cruise Lines offers the ultimate vacation experience with 5% cash back when booking.
  • Grocery Stores: Cardmembers can stock up on snacks and delicious treats with 5% cash back on grocery stores.
  • Fitness Clubs: Sweat and stack up on rewards with a membership to a favorite fitness club and enjoy 5% cash back.
  • Hair, Nails and Spa Services: Cardmembers can treat themselves to some much-needed pampering. From a relaxing massage to a stylish haircut, indulge in self-care and emerge feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with 5% cash back.

You can activate the new categories here, starting now. Must activate by March 14, 2025.

Other Benefits

In addition to the rotating quarterly categories and new cardmember offers, Freedom Flex cardmembers also earn 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Freedom Flex cardmembers also receive World Elite Mastercard Benefits, including cell phone protection and discounts with Lyft, Boxed, Shoprunner, and more.

Conclusion

Chase Freedom’s 1st quarter bonus categories can be useful, especially the Grocery Stores category. That’s a popular category for good reason, since many people will have considerable spending on groceries every month, and most supermarket also sell gift cards.

Also don’t forget to maximize the current 4th Quarter bonus categories before the end of the month.
