Chase Freedom is one of the more popular rewards credit cards. With no annual fee, 5X rotating bonus categories and points that convert to Ultimate Rewards when paired with a premium card, it is a product worth considering.
Unlike other issuers who released their categories all at once, Chase does so the month before the start of the quarter. Now we have learned which categories will earn 5% back on the Chase Freedom in the third quarter of 2019 on up to $1,500 in spend. Let’s take a look!
Chase Freedom July – September, 2019 Bonus Categories
Here are the just announced bonus categories for Chase Freedom from April – June, 2019:
- Gas Stations
- Streaming Services (Apple Music, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, SiriusXM, Sling, Spotify, and Vudu)
Chase Freedom Sign-Up Bonus
If you don’t currently have the Chase Freedom card (and aren’t over 5/24), it can be a great first card to get with Chase. It also comes with a 0% purchase APR for 15 months and a $150 sign-up bonus after $500 in spend.
Conclusion
Decent categories for this upcoming quarter to max out the $1,500 in spend. Gas stations will surely be helpful, but you can also switch over your streaming services for three months to the Chase Freedom card.

The gas station category would ordinarily be perfect for me, since I buy lots of gas. But lately, I’ve been putting those (among other) purchases on my Hilton Ascend, trying to earn the 150K point upgrade bonus. Maybe the timing will be better next year.
