Chase Sapphire Preferred Fee Going Up Next Year?

Chase just increased the annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, but they could also be planning similar move for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Currently the Chase Sapphire Preferred has an annual fee of $95 which has not changed in years. This is a popular card that comes with some decent benefits and earning rates. Plus more recently it added the Points Boost feature which can get you a value of up to 2 cents per point.

Now a report on reddit says that the annual fee might go up to $150 starting January 1, 2026. The information comes from a phone rep, which normally are not very reliable. They also said that the annual fee increase will come without any changes to rewards or multipliers, which seems strange.

While I’m not putting much faith on the details of this rumor, a higher annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Preferred would not surprise me at all. Cards with a similar annual fee have all gotten more expensive recently. That includes the mid-tier Delta, Hilton and United cards.
