Citi Dividend Announces 5% Categories for 2nd Quarter
Citi has released the calendar for Q2 of 2023 for the 5% Cash Back categories. These are quarterly rotating categories for Citi Dividend cardholders. The Dividend card isn’t available to the public anymore, but many people still hold on to it. Let’s see the details.
Q2 2023 Calendar
- Drugstores:Â Includes purchases made at pharmacies in grocery stores, general merchandise/discount superstores, and wholesale/warehouse clubs if those merchants submit purchases made in their pharmacy with the drug store or pharmacy merchant category code.
- Grocery Stores: Includes purchases at supermarkets, meat/seafood stores, dairy stores, bakeries, and miscellaneous food/convenience stores. Excludes purchases at general merchandise/discount superstores; wholesale/warehouse clubs; candy, nut and confectionery stores. Purchases made at online supermarkets or with grocery delivery services also do not qualify if the merchant does not classify itself as a supermarket by using the supermarket merchant category code.
Citi Dividend is similar to Discover it and Chase Freedom cards. But it is actually better as you can do all your spending in a quarter, if there’s a category you prefer. You can earn all of your cashback ($300) total any time during the year in whichever category you choose.
You can find the calendar here and register once it becomes available. You might also receive emails for 1-click activation for the new categories.
Conclusion
The 2nd quarter categories include Drugstores and Grocery Stores. Both are popular categories since you can easily find gift card for sale at these merchants. Plus most people normally spend a decent amount on groceries each month.
This could be quarter where you can maximize the spending for the whole year and get up to $300 in cash back.
