Conclusion
Not as good as that promotion back in August. But this could still be a good opportunity to redeem Delta SkyMiles, especially for those who already have a large stash. But with the right deal, even transferring Amex Membership Rewards points (there’s a fee) could make sense.
With Delta Vacations booking you sometimes get a cheaper flight than booking an award flight alone. So it’s definitely worth looking and playing around with dates and destinations. Plus these flights are booked as paid fares so you will earn both redeemable SkyMiles and Medallion Qualification Miles.
Let us know if you book anything through this Delta Vacations promo.

Wow. No such fee is imposed if you transfer MR points to Hotels.
No fee for hotels or International airlines, they only impose the fee on domestic airlines.
Not that DDG needs any help explaining/defending his statement on a transfer fee but I thought I’d save him the trouble. There IS a transfer fee to any domestic airline when transferring MR points. When transferring Membership Rewards points to any U.S. based airline’s frequent flyer program you’re subjected to what Amex calls an Excise Tax Offset Fee imposed by Amex of $0.0006 per point (with maximum fee of $99) per transfer.
There is no fee to transfer Amex MR to Delta. Please correct the mistake in the article.
