Disney to Require Face Masks Again

Disney to Require Face Masks Again

Disney has updated its mask policy at U.S. theme parks after new guidance from health and government officials on Tuesday.

Starting Friday, July 30, Disney will require all guests, regardless of vaccination status, to wear face coverings in indoor locations at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California. The mask requirement also applies to Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status.

Children under the age of two are exempt, and do not need to wear masks. Face coverings also remain optional in all outdoor areas.

Disney also reminds guests that costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn as a substitute.

The policy change comes as Covid cases have surged in the U.S. in recent weeks. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reversed course and recommended that fully vaccinated people begin wearing masks indoors again in places with high Covid transmission rates. These hot spots include states like California and Florida where Disney parks are located.
