Disney Furloughs Employees as Parks Stay Closed
Walt Disney announced earlier this week that it will furlough some of its workers because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement came on Thursday and was also sent out in an internal email.
The company will start furloughing employees “whose jobs aren’t necessary at this time”, starting on April 19th. The short-term furlough will impact executive, salaried and non-union hourly Cast Members based in the U.S..
Employees have continues to receive full pay and benefits until now and will continue to do so until April 18th. Starting April 19th, Disney will maintain health and insurance benefits coverage, paying both employer and employee contributions for impacted employees.
