Disney Catches Thieving Cast Members at Port Orleans

Disney cast members have apparently been stealing from guests at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. So Disney set up a sting operation to catch the culprits last month. And it was a successful one, ending up in the arrest of two individuals.

The details are revealed by a sheriff’s arrest report, which describes how the company pulled off the sting on March 9th.

Disney set up its operation at hotel room No. 8097, with no real guests involved. Video monitoring was set up by sheriff’s detectives, who watched the live feed from the next room. The “bait” was $200 in cash, which was placed in a small backpack in camera view. Valuables such as an iPad, AirPods, and other personal items, were also left in there.

And it didn’t take long for the thieves to make their move, as reported by WDW News Today. Two cast members Raphmarie Cartagena Torres and Aishaleam Abraham Rodriguez entered room No. 8097 with instructions to clean it. Torres was already suspected of being part of the ongoing thefts at the property.

The sheriff’s report says, that “upon entry (Raphmarie) is seen immediately making entry into the front pocket of the backpack, and removing the cash from the interior of the bag. She is observed counting the money while engaging in conversation with (the other employee.) Raphmarie counts out $65, places it on the television stand, and a hand is seen removing the money from the stand. Raphmarie is then seen rummaging through the rest of the bags in the view of the camera, to include the rest of the bookbag as well as a suitcase on the bench next to the television stand.” They did not take any of the other valuables, the report said.

The sheriff’s detectives confronted the two cast members as they left the room. Each woman had $65 in cash that matched the serial numbers from the money left in the bag, the report said.

The report doesn’t detail how many thefts has previously happened at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort.

      • I think we will all be surprised at how many of the social networks and commenters on websites will turn out to be Russian shills or some other agents at work. Making it seem that so many Americans are extremists on multiple sides of the political and cultural spectrum. Sowing discord wherever they can, sometimes not so subtly!
