Emirates First Class Review 777-300ER
How nice would it be to get unlimited Dom Perignon on 14-hr flight? I recently flew in First Class on an Emirates 777-300ER from DFW-DXB. Here is my review.

I booked this flight before Alaska suddenly devalued Emirates awards in March, 2016. The cost was 90K miles to get to Dubai and only an additional 10,000 miles to add on a connection to Korea.
Unfortunately the current cost of this flight is significantly higher. Here are the current prices:
While the current cost of 180K is nearly double the old cost of 100K, you do still get two first class flights if going between the U.S. and Korea.
Check in Area at DFW Airport
My Emirates First Class journey started with check-in a DFW Airport. Emirates has a separate line for premium cabin passengers.
Emirates also provides a luggage tag and priority service on luggage. The tag slides to the side so you can write your information and then close it for privacy.
I’m not a big fan of being in a first row seat in first class, so for this flight I decided to pick 2K. A nice spot for this 14-hr flight.

Emirates had a designated entry for first class passengers which was separate from business/economy passengers.
The Emirates 777-300ER cabin may not have a shower, but it has their famous suite and looks very clean.
Suite 2K
The first class cabin is comprised of 8 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. During my flight there were 3 first class passengers along with 3 crew members to serve us.
The Emirates First Class suite on the 777-300ER is actually bigger and better than the one in A380-800. It has a higher door and a higher wall which helps to provide more privacy.

It is better than the one in my car. LOL
The seat next to me was empty for this flight. This view shows how spacious the seat actually is.
Shortly after boarding the crew provided me with an Emirates branded amenity kit. It contained Bulgari Body Lotion, After Shave Balm, and perfume. Great!
Other amenities can be found under the half-moon shape mirror. You can take these if you want to.
There is also a writing kit and of course pajamas!
I found that the pajamas are not of the top quality you will find on other airlines, however they were “good enough” for the 14 hour flight. My favorite first class pajamas are from Japan Airlines & Korean Airlines.
The suite also includes a nice snack basket to nibble on during the flight.
Before our take off, one of three flight attendants offered some dates. They are very popular in the Middle East, however I had never had them before. They weren’t bad. It was a unique flavor. Following the dates, I was also offered some fantastic Arabic coffee. As a coffee lover it really hit the spot.
Next, the crew served champagne. The 2006 Dom Perignon was delicious. I think I had about 4 bottles on my 14-hr flight. 🙂
At one point during the flight I managed to get up and take a peak into the business class cabin on board. It looked decent enough to me. During my time in the Centurion lounge at DFW I spoke briefly with another passenger who states that she liked her experience in Emirates business.
Back to the suite now, there are noise canceling headphones and many buttons. On the window side, there is also a remote control that controls almost everything. From that remote you can open/close the suite door, call the flight attendant and control the in flight entertainment.
This plane had a camera attached to the tail. I could even control the view of that camera from the remote control. Pretty neat.
Meal Service
After we hit elevation, it was time for the first meal service to begin. My pre-meal appetizer included caviar. It was delicious!
During the meal, the setting was amazing and service level was top notch. I opted for the Lobster Tail as my entree.
In addition to the caviar and lobster, Spring Rolls were served as well. I didn’t like them as much as the other courses. Perhaps I was too full after the caviar, lobster and a few glasses of Dom. 🙂
Following dinner service I walked around the cabin and checked out the lavatory. The toilet seat lid has the same matching wood grain as the suites. Bulgari amenities can be found in the restroom.
While there isn’t a large bar like on the A380, in front of Suite 1K, there is a small bar for the passengers. The service was so amazing during my flight, that I never had to get up to serve myself.
In-Flight Wifi
This flight did have in-flight WiFi service available at a very good price.

It was pretty good compared to Japan Airlines’ $18.80 WiFi fee per flight and I now believe they give a free coupon to first class passengers. As for the speed, it was decent and I only used 300MB for the entire flight.
In-Seat Mini Bar
In addition to the great service and the bar up front, each suite has a mini bar featuring a nice selection of drinks.
After all the Dom and with some work to do, I couldn’t sleep so I decided to have something light to eat. The fruit and desert plate were delicious and definitely hit the spot. I then settled into the seat and discovered the massage functionality. Wow!

Then it was time for bed. This suite provides a ton of privacy and feels like a bedroom compared to a seat on an airplane. I found the mattress to be comfortable and managed to get about 3 hours of sleep.
Why do I always get so hungry on the plane? I really don’t know. I suppose it is about 50/50 between my true hunger and a curiosity as to what they have. I love experiencing new things! After waking up I turned on a movie, played with the WiFi and ordered a Shrimp Fried Rice dish followed by a Double Espresso. Getting tired of Dom, I moved on to a delicious Chardonnay.
During the evening the plane has beautiful mood lighting. A purple starry sky! As we got closer things returned to normal since it was day time outside. Here was my view as we approached Dubai.
Eventually we arrived at our gate and I had to say goodbye temporarily. Thankfully I was the first one off of this massive plane.
Bottom Line
It took about a year for me to collect the Alaska Airlines miles for this trip. Most of the miles came from flying American Airlines in US Domestic. Originally this flight was supposed to be on an A380-800 but they changed it to a B777-300ER before my flight.
While I loved everything about the flight and my experience, I did sort of miss the shower. With that said, the overall experience on this B777-300ER is better than on the A380-800, in my opinion. The meal, drink, service, hardware, software.. Everything was amazing.
It does take 150K miles now for a one-way flight between the U.S. and Dubai and you will have to add 30-50K more miles if you are connecting to another region, but I still feel it is worth it and the fees of about $50 are minimal as well.

Was lucky enough to have the entire first class cabin in a 777 all for myself on the long flight between Dubai and Melbourne late last month.
A couple of points I would make: The toilet is a disgrace! It’s a standard economy class toilet with some faux wood etc….so yeah, it’s EXTREMELY cramped in there. No comparison to the A380.
And….what is the point of the mini bar at your seat? It’s not refrigerated, and you can order the exact same drinks from the galley, and they’re nice and cold!

I flew the 777-200 LR from DXB-DFW, granted they were angle flat seats. I didn’t mind either way. A much better 15hr flight than in economy. There is a semi private biz cabin section just behind First class. only 2 rows
(7 across..ew..2-3-2). I still enjoyed my flight. Itching to try JAL 1st class though for 90k miles
