Giving Assistant Shutting Down, File Claim If You Have a Balance

Giving Assistant is a popular shopping portal. I have used it occasionally in the past myself. But it is now shutting down, and it looks like they will not pay out cash back that was recently earned.

The company is already under legal proceeding to pay off creditors with whatever funds it has available. A legal documents is posted on the website, but few customers were notified about it.

Based on that document linked above, only debts incurred on or before the date of the assignment are eligible for consideration by the assignee. That date is November 16, 2021. That likely means that Giving Assistant will only consider paying cash back for purchases through November 15. And even that cash back will be partially paid, pro-rated based on available funds.

This could be bad news especially for those who have used Giving Assistant for Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping.

If you still have a balance with Giving Assistant, you can file a claim using this form. The deadline for filing claims is May 16, 2022.

The form states that Giving Assistant will not share any information regarding the distribution of proceeds from the liquidation of its assets until the claim submission deadline of May 16, 2022 has passed.

Conclusion

Check your Giving Assistant accounts and see if you have any balances left. If so, file a claim now to get some of those funds back at least. Hopefully not many people have huge amounts pending.

This is also good reminder to always withdraw cash as soon as possible from shopping portals. Let us know if you have used Giving Assistant recently.

  1. Yeah I have a cashback balance of 9,000 in my account they sent me a letter via email. What would happen if my cash back is this big?

  2. Seems you can no longer log in to even check the balance. I had an amount over the $5.99 minimum that should have been automatically transferred to PayPal. That never happened and e-mail sent to Support were never answered. My balance awaiting payout was significantly higher, but because I can’t log into my account anymore, I have no idea what the exact balance is to even submit a claim. Very sad to see this shopping tool go away.
