Chase Freedom Cardholders Get 10% More Value with Pay Yourself Back, Plus Q3 Categories Announced

Good News for Chase Freedom Cardholders

Chase has announced the new 5% categories for the third quarter for Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers. There’s also good news when it comes to redeeming the rewards you earn. All Freedom cardholders will soon be able take advantage of Pay Yourself Back through Ultimate Rewards.

Q3 Categories

Starting July 1 through September 30, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn up to $1,500 in cash back rewards by using their card on the below categories:

  • Grocery Stores (excluding Target® & Walmart®): Just in time for grilling season, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases to cook-up their favorite recipes all summer long.
  • Select Streaming Services: Monthly music and TV streaming subscriptions can add up fast – this quarter, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on individual purchases and subscriptions.

Pay Yourself Back

Additionally, this summer Chase Freedom, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, and Freedom Student cardmembers can take advantage of Pay Yourself Back through Ultimate Rewards.

Starting July 2nd, Chase Freedom, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, and Freedom Student cardmembers will have the option to apply Ultimate Rewards points to pay for all or a portion of their dining purchases up to a total of $250 and get paid back with statement credit through the Pay Yourself Back tool in the Chase Mobile App and online.

Conclusion

Along with 5% rotating categories and new Pay Yourself Back category, Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn cash back on a variety of other purchases including 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards and 3% cash back on dining and drugstores.

Also don’t forget to maximize the current categories for the second quarter. You have until the end of June to spend $1,500 at Gas Stations and Home Improvement Stores.

  1. “earn up to $1,500 in cash back rewards” is wrong. You mean can earn 5% on up to $1,500 in spend, for a maximum of $75 in cash back rewards.

  2. Does this mean I should put dining purchases on my Chase Freedom Unlimited (3%) over my Chase Sapphire Preferred (2%)?
