Hyatt to Offer Luxury Hot Spring Ryokans Across Japan
Hyatt Hotels and Kiraku announced that they will soon offer more options for World of Hyatt members in Japan. Hyatt and Kiraku each own fifty percent of the ATONA brand and will initially open new properties in Yufu, Yakushima, and Hakone. The ATONA brand was first announced in 2022.
Kiraku is a Japanese company dedicated to preserving valuable assets for future generations. The new offerings are centered around the onsen (hot spring), a treasured part of Japanese culture. Guests will soon be able to book ryokans under the ATONA brand, which are slated to open in 2026 across some of Japan’s top hot spring destinations.
Featuring modern design grounded in Japan’s rich cultural heritage and history, ATONA properties will typically have 30 to 50 guestrooms, and will also feature restaurants with open kitchens and bars highlighting seasonal offerings.
ATONA is the first brand in the Hyatt portfolio to originate from Japan. It promises travelers an authentic experience with contemporary comforts.
Hyatt says that the ATONA brand will be managed independently by a team of highly experienced hospitality experts who have a deep understanding of both Japanese culture and international hotel standards.
