IHG & Hilton Points Sale

IHG & Hilton Points Sale

There is an IHG & Hilton points sale going on right now that may be of interest for you. While we don’t encourage people to purchase points speculatively, it can actually save you money from time to time. Or, maybe you just need a few more points to book that next award stay etc. These deals can come in handy in certain times of need. Let’s take a look at these two offers.

Hilton Points Sale

First up is the Hilton points sale. This one comes around quite a bit, but can be a decent deal at times. While the price ($0.005) is a little higher than I value Hilton Honors points, it might be an option under certain circumstances:

  • If the cash price is offering more value that $0.005 cents per point for the booking.
  • You need a few more points to book the award you want.
  • You need more points to unlock the 5th night free, or using that perk drops the cost below what paying cash would cost.

You do need to purchase at least 5,000 Hilton points to unlock the 100% bonus offer. It may be targeted too, so be sure to run the numbers before hitting buy now. If you are targeted then the price should be $0.005 cents per point.

IHG Points Sale

IHG is back with their own points sale too. Their cost is a little higher than Hilton points, but they are also worth a little more than Hilton points. This deal has a cost of $0.0056 cents per point if you purchase at least 26,000 points. It can make sense for similar reasons to buying Hilton points above:

  • If the cash price is offering more value that $0.0056 cents per point for the booking.
  • You need a few more points to book the award you want.
  • You need more points to unlock the 4th night free as a cardholder. Or, buying points to book it outright saves you money.
  • If you have the legacy IHG card that gets 10% back on award stays that essentially makes buying these points a bit cheaper too (assuming you use them).

I don’t love that the purchase requirement (26K) is a bit higher here to get the best rate compared to Hilton. Getting IHG points for as low as $0.0056 is a pretty tempting deal though. Especially if stacked with some IHG cardholder perks.

Neither of these deals are so good that you should buy points just to buy them. But, they both could make sense in certain scenarios. I have purchased points in the past to save money on an upcoming stay. It is possible, but have a plan before diving in.

Let me know if you plan to take advantage of the IHG or Hilton points sale below, or in the MTM Facebook Group. We appreciate anyone who is willing to use our affiliate links above if they decide to purchase points.
