JetBlue Changes Expiration Details for Travel Credits
JetBlue has quietly made a negative change to the terms of its Travel Bank credits. This has to do with how the airline calculates the expiration of these credits, and it has a big impact especially for those who book well ahead.
The new terms now state:
For tickets issued or exchanged after Mar 8, 2023 that are voluntarily cancelled or exchanged to a lower fare, funds are returned as a JetBlue travel credit that is valid for 12 months from the original ticketing date.
These were the terms before this week’s update:
For tickets booked before Mar 8, 2023 that are voluntarily cancelled or exchanged to a lower fare, funds are returned as a JetBlue travel credit that is valid for 12 months from the date the credit is issued.
The difference is when the 12-month clock start for your travel credits. Until March 8th it was calculated from the date the credit was issued, which would normally be when you cancel a flight for example. Now it starts from the date when the flight was booked.
So let’s say that you book a flight today for travel six months from now. If you decide to cancel just a few days before traveling, you’ll only have about six months to use your credit instead of 12 months under the old terms.

did they also remove the option to get the flight credit for involuntary schedule change over 61 min??? I am not sure how they can legally change the terms and conditions immediately like this and apply the rules to the tickets purchased under a very different expectation set by their old policy….
Whoa… thanks for the heads up!
