JetBlue Cuts 37 Routes for Fall and Winter Schedule
JetBlue already trimmed its schedule ahead of the busy summer season, and is now cutting even more flights as we inch towards the end of the year.
The New York-based carrier filed a schedule update over the weekend with 37 route cuts. The news was first reported by The Points Guy. The decision comes after JetBlue already cut or suspended more than 20 routes before the summer.
These routes were scheduled for later this year and into 2023. Many of them were already suspended and have now been removed from future schedules. But there are also new additions to the list. The two markets taking the hardest hit are Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.
In a statement to TPG, JetBlue explains that these cuts are designed to “ensure continued operational reliability.” The airline said it is aiming to “ease pressure on [its] Customer Support team and to offer more time for rebooking customers.” These suspensions are primarily in markets and airports that are especially challenging from an operational perspective.
