JetBlue London Heathrow Flights Extended through October 2022
JetBlue Airways has announced that its daily flights between New York and London Heathrow airport are now extended through October 2022. The carrier has acquired the required take-off and landing slots for the route. The airline originally had temporary slots at Heathrow this past year after larger airlines reduced flights due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lower travel demand.
The flights between JFK in New York City and Heathrow will now be operated through the traditionally busy summer travel season. JetBlue hopes to take advantage of the expected increased demand for transatlantic travel.
These flights were first launched on August 11th. They are now scheduled to run once daily until 31 October 2022. The presence at London Heathrow Airport gives JetBlue a global hub to build a new base of travelers in the U.K. and possibly beyond.
“The response on both sides of the Atlantic has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s now widely recognized that losing JetBlue on this route would be a major setback for travelers who enjoy low fares and great service,” said Robin Hayes, chief executive officer, JetBlue. “We are committed to collaborating with regulators as well as the U.S. and U.K. governments to identify a pathway to staying at Heathrow for the long-term. There’s so much more good we can do as we grow this route if we are allowed to stay and compete.”
