Join CLEAR, Get Up to 15,000 United Miles
CLEAR is a private company that uses biometrics to confirm your identity and then gets you quickly through checkpoints at many airports around the country. CLEAR costs $189 per year, but is free for Amex Platinum cardholders.
To make things even better, you can also earn up to 15,000 United miles when you sign up for CLEAR. Let’s see how this offer works.

CLEAR Pricing, How to Get it for Free
What does CLEAR cost?
- $189 regular pricing, per year
- $119 per year for United MileagePlus members with no status
- $109 per year for members with United status or with a United credit card
Cards that offer free/cheap CLEAR membership
- The Platinum Card from American Express – $189 annual CLEAR credit if you pay with your card
- The Business Platinum Card from American Express – $189 annual CLEAR credit if you pay with your card
- The American Express Green Card – offers $189 annual CLEAR credit if you pay with your card
If you only have the Amex Green card, then you can pay $19 per year for CLEAR and get 10,000 bonus miles. The best case scenario is if you have one of the Platinum cards and United status/card where you would get CLEAR for free and 15,000 bonus miles.
Conclusion
We saw this offer a few months ago, but it only had the 15,000 miles bonus for MileagePlus Premier members. Now there’s also a 10,000 miles bonus for all MileagePlus members, which makes this available to many more people.
The price for CLEAR recently went up to $189, from $179 per year. The pricing for United MileagePlus members hasn’t changed. As for the CLEAR credit that you get from Amex cards, Platinum cardholders now get up to $189 back, while Green cardholders still get only $100.

I signed up for this promotion over two months ago and never received my miles. Cusotmer service has been totally dismissive.
I think you need to go to the airport and activate your account to get the miles.
Any word on when miles are supposed to post from the initial offer?
