Latest Amazon Amex Offer

Amex Offers are quite popular. We often see a few good ones and lots of bad ones every few weeks such as 4% back at whatever random merchant.

But when we see an Amex Offer for Amazon we usually rush to add it to our cards. These are usually offers for a discount, or extra points on Amazon purchases.

One of these offers popped up in my accounts in recent days, and I had to do a double or triple-take to realize that it the worst Amazon Amex Offer we have seen so far.

As you can see in the screenshot, you need to spend 7,143 points for $50 towards an Amazon purchase in order to get 1,500 points back. After that rebate, you’re using 5,643 points for a $50 value. If you run the numbers, that is just 0.89 cents per point, which is a terrible way to redeem your points.

The only people who will value this offer, are those who were already using their Amex points for Amazon purchases at 0.7 cents per point. Now they can get 25% more value. Yay!
