Legacy Bilt Mastercard Shutting Down Soon

Bilt Rewards launched its first credit card, the Bilt World Elite Mastercard, back in 2021 as a beta product. It then partnered with Wells Fargo in 2022 to launch the current version of the card, the Bilt World Elite Mastercard issued by Wells Fargo.

Now Bilt has some bad news for those original adopters. Bilt cardholders using the legacy Bilt World Elite Mastercard product will see communications from Bilt and an in-app popup letting them know they can apply for the Bilt World Elite Mastercard issued by Wells Fargo.

On December 31, 2024, all legacy Bilt Mastercard accounts will no longer be able to be used. Cardholders will still be able to pay for the balances they owe after this time and if they do not close their cards themselves, these will be closed by Bilt.

Bilt says that overall, this affects a tiny percentage of our cardholder base. Here are some more details that Bilt shared with us:

  • You have six months to decide whether to apply for the Wells Fargo-issued Bilt World Elite Mastercard
  • Legacy cardholders who choose to apply will receive 10,000 Bilt Points – approval not required.
  • Cardholders’ Bilt Rewards accounts will NOT be impacted if they choose not to apply for the new Wells Fargo-issued Bilt World Elite Mastercard
