Would much rather collect the 5x UR at gas stations and be able to purchase any airline economy ticket through the portal. Also, 4X MR’s at restaurants and grocery stores and cash them out with my Schwab at 1.25 cpp.
I think you come out a little ahead going this route than using the portal. You earn points on the purchase with your credit card and can use a cashback portal for the booking. Still getting the 1.5 cents. That doesn’t include that you can now get travel protections by paying with a card or being able to avoid calling Chase when issues arise.
Setting us up for another round of clawbacks
@TEO — I know I’m in the minority, but that’s why I don’t buy gift cards or MS with AMEX. It’s just not worth getting points clawed back, getting a lifetime ban or getting on RAT’s radar.
Thank you AMEX. I’ve been hoping they’d do something like this since the grocery spend offer ended on the 7/31/20.
Thanks Dan. Always on top of the latest deals!! This worked for all three of our cards (Brilliant for myself and wife, and my Business card). Cool!!
It’s not the fanciest of offers but since I already have well over a million Bonvoy points I will just burn these as a way of fueling my AA balance. American miles are the hardest for me to earn and I do value their web specials so more AA miles is always a plus for me.
Wonder if it’s targeted. It showed up on my parents’ card but not mine.
