Spend $2,000, Get an Extra 2,000 Membership Rewards Points
There’s an Amex Offer that I noticed today on my Amex EveryDay Card. It’s offering an extra 2,000 Membership Rewards points for regular spending anywhere. Let’s check the details.
The Offer
Get 2,000 Membership Rewards® points by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $2,000+ in one or more eligible transactions by 11/20/2018.
Key Terms
- Eligible purchases are purchases made on your enrolled Card and on any Additional Cards on your Card Account linked to the same Membership Rewards Program account by 11/20/2018.
- Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date).
Conclusion
This offer gives you an extra 1X earning on your Amex cards. Depending on which cards you have the offer, it could be a good added bonus on your spending. It doesn’t have to be a single $2,000 purchase either.
Check your cards and let us know on which cards you have it.

I have spend 7000 get 3500 up to 3 times on my Everyday Preferred and Platinum cards.
That is some steep spending requirements!
Mine is 3,500 MR for $7k spend up to 3x by 11/20, so effectively giving me 1.5X points… not sure it’s worth it.
This is a poor offer. If i use my Citi double card, and spend $2,000, I will get $40 cash back which is better than 2000 Amex Points.
Max you are forgetting about the points you earn with the card though. You could earn 1.5 or 2 MR points per dollar on top of that. It would easily come out ahead of the Citi DC….
I have 2k MR for $3,500,00 spend, repeatable 3x.
Instead, I have 1,500 MR for $1,500 spend, repeatable 3x by 11/20 on another Amex charge.
Just curious as to why someone would do all that spend on a card when it could be used towards a new card minimum spend and a much bigger points payoff.
