Disneyland Increases Capacity to 35%, More Tickets Available
As more people get vaccinated around the country, restrictions are loosening up. Orange County, which is of interest for Disney fans, has reached the Yellow Tier. That means the Disneyland Resort can open at 35% capacity. Because of this, new availability has opened up for May and June dates at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. So more tickets are now available to California residents for immediate travel.
Disneyland has announced a new way to book tickets on their site that allows guests to book theme park reservations at the same time they purchase their tickets. However, Disneyland’s ticket system does not allow guests to purchase tickets outside of the dates that are already open for theme park reservations. So Get Away Today is a good option for your ticket purchases, if you want to plan in advance. With Get Away Today, tickets are:
- Always discounted off the gate price
- The only refundable Disneyland ticket option
- Delivered via email within minutes of booking
- Valid for travel through 12/31/2022
Guests purchasing multi-day tickets receive their tickets within minutes of booking, and then get the link where they can begin making theme park reservations. This gives you a longer window for bookings. You can also book Disney packages here.
Keep in mind that only California residents are able to visit the parks, but an announcement from Disney about out-of-state visitors could come any day now. Once that announcement is made, Anaheim hotel prices could raise as much as 25%. So it’s a good idea to book early and take a look at the packages that are available with hotel stays included.

We visited both parks this past Tuesday (5/18). Our reservation was placed a month in advance to get into DCA as Disneyland was ‘booked’. We would be able to transfer over to Disneyland after noon which we did. If you’re wanting to get on the new Starwars ride, you’ll need to be IN Disneyland to book a time and they go really fast. It is also advised that you get very familiar with the app as it’s the only way you’ll be eating anything more than a churro or ice cream. You’ll need to plan EVERYTHING early, all meals are done through the app for the restaurant. Walking up to get a corndog or Dole Whip is not allowed, you’ll need to order in advance, which can be challenging as someone will need to keep checking their phone. Payment for most everything is contactless. The cost is close to $200 for a park-hopper. Ride wait times are 45 minutes to 2 hours as they keep you spaced apart for social distancing. While it wasn’t a perfect day and our expectations were a bit high it was still good to get out there.
