Hotel Review: DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square
This is a guest post from John Ryan, The Vegas Teenager, as part of his recent trip to Dubai.
I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square, and we would definitely stay here again. The staff couldn’t be friendlier, and I couldn’t ask for a better short stay. Throughout our stay, we were wishing we would stay here longer. The hotel is only a year old, and I could certainly tell. Here’s a look at our experience.
Booking
Due to our inbound flight connecting in Paris instead of Moscow, this meant that instead of landing at 2 am and heading to Abu Dhabi, we would be spending a short night in Dubai. However, we had to wait to book the hotel until we got there, since we had landed on the 21st but we would be “spending” the night from the 20th to the 21st. The total cost for the hotel was $147.
We decided to stay here because of the milestone bonus I’d be receiving for staying 40 nights last year. In total, I got 14,471 points for the stay, which is 98 points per dollar. Not bad if you ask me!
That’s also more than $72 worth of points, since Hilton points are worth a half cent each.
Location
The DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square is in the Al Karama neighborhood. It is exactly halfway between the ADCB metro station and the Burjuman station. The Burjuman station is a transfer station between the red and green lines, so I think this is a very good location. Also, you’re about halfway between the Dubai airport and Downtown Dubai, home to the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa.
Check-in
A friendly bellman greeted us and took our bags to the front desk. The front desk was very large, and we were the only guests there at 2 o’clock in the morning. I gave the agent my Hilton Honors number and credit card. She told us we had been upgraded from a 2 twin room to a 2 twin executive room. I was happy enough with a hotel room after traveling for over a day, but to be upgraded on top of that was spectacular.
She also explained the elite benefits, which was a small snack basket that was available after 10 am (which I assume is in lieu of the executive lounge), as well as free breakfast at the Spice Tree, which is the main restaurant at the hotel. It is located on the second floor.
Room
The room was a pretty large size for a European/Asian room and featured a marble desk with a chair, 2 twin beds, a large TV, as well as a small couch.
I was overall very impressed by this room, and it served its purpose well. The room did not have universal outlets, so, as always, it is important to have the proper plug type.
As with most new hotels, the hotel featured power outlets throughout the room. We faced Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed street. We were also close to the elevator, but we didn’t hear any noise.
Also, the wifi in the room worked really well and was fast.
Bathroom
I found this to be a great bathroom. It featured a large bathtub and a large, separate, shower.
The sink had Crabtree and Evelyn bath amenities, which are standard at Hilton and DoubleTree hotels. There was also a toilet and a bidet, but there wasn’t a special water closet room.
Public Areas
This hotel only opened about a year ago, so the hotel was in amazing shape. Every area I was in couldn’t have been nicer or more modern. It still looked like the hotel had just opened. The restaurant is on the second floor, along with the executive lounge. Both looked very nice.
Lounge
However, the lounge was closed, presumably due to COVID. I wasn’t informed if it was open when we checked in. I did try my room key, but the door wouldn’t unlock, and I didn’t see anyone else inside.
Gyms
The hotel is in a complex with residences, and there are two gyms in the hotel: one on the mezzanine level and one on the 19th floor. The one on the mezzanine level was packed, and I assume either they sell memberships for this gym or there was a class for the residences. I thought they looked very nice and featured the normal cardio equipment and weights standard at DoubleTree properties.
Pools
The DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square has two pools. One is located on the 19th floor, and the other is on the second floor. I read on FlyerTalk that the pool on the 19th floor was adults only, but there was a family there, so I assume that is not enforced.
The pool on the second floor was a bit larger, but neither pool had a hot tub. The 19th-floor pool also had a bar, which was empty.
Restaurant
Breakfast was very good and featured a large buffet spread.
There were pancakes, waffles, fruit, and an omelet station. I was very impressed by this buffet.
Due to the time change, my mom and I went at separate times. Staff didn’t care, so I couldn’t be more impressed.
Check-Out
There was one person in front of us when checking out. The employee told us that we had no other charges, and we were good to go. He also asked us if we could leave a good review and we obliged.
Conclusion
I was very impressed by this hotel. While writing this review, I saw that DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square is a 5-star hotel. I certainly agree with this ,as it is a full-service hotel with plenty of amenities available. I look forward to staying here in the future, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
