I recently embarked on a week-long trip to Scandinavia with my twin toddler daughters, wife and mom, to visit some friends who live in Norway. During the trip we visited Copenhagen, Malmo (Sweden) and Oslo.
SAS Lounge Oslo Airport Review
Our non-stop flight from Oslo to Miami was scheduled to depart at 9:55am, we arrived at Oslo airport at 7:30am, allowing us plenty of time to check out the SAS lounge and buy some small gifts to bring back to family. I utilized SAS Fast Track, a service to bypass the regular security line for EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members.
I’m a ‘free agent’ (no status) now with regards to airline status but my friend based in Oslo who is EuroBonus (SAS’s Loyalty Program) Diamond and travels exclusively with Star Alliance members, was kind enough to give away a EuroBonus Gold card to me. Gifting a Gold card is one of the neat perks about being a EuroBonus Diamond as it grants the recipient Star Alliance Gold status for a limited time.
Right after security and a short walk later, we took the elevator up to the second floor where the lounge was located. There are two lounges combined in the same space, SAS lounge and SAS Gold lounge, the former for business class passengers (we were flying coach) and the latter for EuroBonus Diamond/Gold or Star Alliance Gold members.
SAS uses automated gates for entry into the lounge. You simply scan your boarding pass and the gates swing open to allow you to pass into the business class part of the lounge. I scanned 4 of 5 boarding passes and the 5th one gave me trouble. An attendant quickly came by and gently told me that there was a max of 4 people allowed but saw we were a family traveling together and manually scanned the 5th boarding pass through. There didn’t seem to be anyone enforcing entrance into either lounge so we just stayed in the SAS business lounge since it was practically empty and the kids room was located inside here.
Once inside, we went straight for the kids room so the girls could watch TV and play with toys while the adults grabbed coffee, juice and some items for breakfast. We didn’t enter the SAS Gold lounge since we wanted to utilize the kids room and only the SAS business lounge had one.
The Kids Room had comfortable seating for children with a toddler-sized table and bar stools, in addition to bean bags. The TV had ‘Disney Junior’ on when we entered so the girls felt right at home.
Crayons for coloring were provided and the girls took the liberty of drawing on the elephant, which already had crayon scribble on it from previous pipsqueaks.
The breakfast offerings are sufficient for a decent breakfast prior to your long-haul international flight. Hard boiled eggs, cold cuts, fruits, cheese-cutting station and yogurt with ingredients (granola, raisins, brown sugar) to make your own parfait, were some of the food items available.
In addition to coffee, tea and orange juice, they had bottled wines and beers on tap that I was tempted to sample but it was 8:00am and I had a 10-hour flight with twin toddlers coming up so I opted out of sampling.
The lounge was spacious and as I mentioned, practically empty so I walked around a bit and noticed lots of seating areas with power outlets and comfortable tables for a group or family to sit and enjoy breakfast.
The lounge also had private phone rooms so you could enter one of these rooms and make a personal call without disturbing other patrons. Although as you see from the pictures, there weren’t many patrons to disturb during our visit.
SAS Lounge Oslo Summary
The SAS Lounge at the Oslo Airport is aesthetically pleasing, extremely clean and a serviceable pit-stop prior to your long-haul flight from Oslo.
The breakfast offerings aren’t Amex Centurion lounge caliber, but they are adequate enough to bypass having breakfast at your Airbnb or hotel prior to your flight.
We loved the kids room and how accommodating the staff was to us and all guests we encountered. Not only our lounge experience but both long-haul flights on SAS were exceptional and the service from crew felt genuinely kind. If the traditional airline lounges in the states was of SAS caliber, I think we’d all be singing a different tune on U.S. domestic airline lounge quality.

You can also get access to the SAS lounge if you are booked in SAS Plus. I found this out by accident on a trip from Copenhagen. That and Fast Track was also there. The lounge I was in was pretty crowded, and they also had a menu you could order from. We did not have enough time for that, but the menu looked very good.
