Royal Caribbean Needs to Hire Thousands of Employees
Here’s an issue that most companies would love, skyrocketing demand. That’s exactly the issue that Royal Caribbean has right now, as it needs to hire as many as 10,000 new crew members to work on its cruise ships and private destinations.
The company also has three new cruise ships joining their fleet. This includes Utopia of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and Celebrity Xcel.
The increased recruiting effort comes as the cruise company experiences record demand from travelers, according to Reuters.
Cruises are in big demand, just years after they were hit hardest by the pandemic. In 2023, a record number of people took cruises, and it was also a record for Royal Caribbean. The company’s revenue for the first quarter jumped to $3.73 billion, up 29% from the previous year. Its stock price has also doubled in the past year to hit a new record.
As of the end of last year, Royal Caribbean employed about 88,700 people on its cruise ships alone. That figure was 6% lower than 2022. The company’s land-based workforce consisted of approximately 9,500 full-time employees, up 17% from the previous year.
