Sinemia Adds New Feature That Sets It Apart from MoviePass

MoviePass and Sinemia are two relatively new services for regular movie goers that make it affordable to watch movies frequently. MoviePass came out first and Sinemia followed. Now the latter is trying to differentiate itself with a feature that gets rid of the need for people to have a physical card to purchase movie tickets.

Sinemia Cardless Ticketing

The new feature is already live, just download the newest version of the Sinemia app. Customers can select a movie, showing time, and seats in advance through the Sinemia app. Then they can just use a digital one-time payment information that is associated with their account to complete the transaction and purchase the tickets. Even new customers can do this immediately after signing up.

This is not only a great new feature, but also a solution for new Sinemia customers. Those who signed up previously had to wait for the physical card to arrive in the mail. And Sinemia was having trouble mailing these cards out in a timely fashion. Sometimes it took over a month for customers to receive their cards.

“The Cardless feature was in our product pipeline but we accelerated it due to strong demand and issues that it brought,” Sinemia founder and CEO Rifat Oguz told TechCrunch.

The new cardless feature will be available for all new and current Sinemia customers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia.

Conclusion

This is a great feature that should first help those who have signed up but have yet to receive their cards. But it also give Sinemia a great easy feature that MoviePass doesn’t yet offer.

Does this make a difference for you when choosing between the two programs?

  1. With the new Cardless option, we now get stuck paying “processing fees” thus reducing the value of Sinemia. Basically, false advertising. I would rather have the physical card or pay a lower membership price!

  2. Choose?! True movie fans have both! Moviepass for the everyday films, and Sinemia for those you need to buy in advance (and the one Imax a month). 🙂
