Spirit Airlines Cuts 37 Routes
Spirit Airlines is trimming its schedule with most cuts coming in Florida. The low-cost carrier will cut 37 routes from its schedule, based on flight schedule data from Cirium that was first reported by TPG.
Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale are the hardest hit airports. Tampa is losing eight routes, Fort Myers is losing seven, and Fort Lauderdale will have six cuts.
As pointed out by TPG, most of these cuts involve longer routes such as Los Angeles to Milwaukee. John Kirby, Spirit’s vice president of network planning, has previously revealed that the airline will focus more on operations.
“We’ve really tried to stress operational reliability,” he said. “Obviously, we tend to get dinged more than anybody when we have an operational hiccup, even though everybody has them and has had them.”
