St. Regis Adelaide Hotel, Toronto Review
Overview
The Adelaide Hotel, is a St Regis property located within Toronto’s bustling financial district. The hotel’s 65 stories house 256 guest rooms, 122 of which are suites. This glamorous hotel certainly lives up to the level of luxury one would expect from the St. Regis brand.
My Cost: $337/night for the Superior room (I used Thank You Points at a rate of 1.25 cents each.)
Alternate Rates:
- Cash rates seem to start at $320/night
- Rewards: 20,000 SPG Points for a free night or 10,000 SPG Points + $180
The welcome offer for the American Express SPG card for business is at it’s all-time at the time of this post, at 35,000 points. After minimum spend, you would have enough for two free nights at this property.

Location
The Adelaide Hotel is located within Toronto’s financial district. It’s within a mile of several famous attractions including the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame and Roy Thompson Hall. Union Station and the St Andrew Subway stop are a short walk. There are also many restaurants, bars and shopping destinations on surrounding blocks.
Check-In
We were immediately greeted as soon as we stepped on-line despite a few people being ahead of us. The front-desk clerk saw a line forming and called someone over to help check everyone in. This is a nice touch that you don’t see at enough luxury properties.
Room
I think this is one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. From the beautiful decor to the level of comfort everything was top notch. We were upgraded from Superior to a King Suite, so the pictures below are of a suite. The entrance area features marble floors and a beautiful crystal chandelier. The furniture was comfortable and nicely laid out for socializing. There’s also a fireplace located in the seating area.
The en-suite bathroom has a giant tub as well as a separate rainfall shower, not to mention amazing plush robes and slippers. I especially loved that the mirror above the double vanity had a small built in TV Screen that you could watch while bathing or getting ready at the vanity.
Service
Service is an area where The Adelaide truly shined. We had explained to the concierge that we were in town for a weekend of fun and he informed us that it was Canadian Thanksgiving, so things would be pretty dead. We of course were disappointed and he went above and beyond to tell us where we could still find fun things to do and places that would definitely be open. Well, he must have felt for us because about 15 minutes after we got to our room, someone knocked on the door with a beautiful charcuterie platter and a note, saying Happy Thanksgiving.
The housekeeping service was on point and the woman who did turn down was so pleasant and left me extra water bottles when she noticed all of my empties in the garbage.
Amenities
We went to the bar at the The Adelaide Hotel Restaurant located on the 31st Floor with nice views to cash in our complimentary cocktail (SPG Gold Perk). I wish we had time to eat there because my $22 drink was awesome. The prices are steep but they are in CA Dollars so figure about 20% less in US Dollars. I was only there for 2 nights, so I didn’t get to check out the spa or pool.
I have SPG Gold Status through my American Express Platinum Card benefits.
Final Thoughts
I love Toronto and loved this hotel. I have stayed at the Intercontinental, the Thompson Toronto and the SoHo Metropolitan and this was by far the best hotel of the bunch. Although, the location of Thompson and SoHo was better for proximity to more restaurants and bars. My SPG Gold status was honored and I certainly felt like a valued customer. I will be back and I wholeheartedly recommend the Adelaide Hotel!

Wow! What a stunning hotel! The rate’s not expensive for its location and cleanliness. Thanks for sharing this hotel. I’ll mark it in my travel note.
A Toronto local here. This is the former Trump Toronto Hotel. Room hasn’t changed since the brand changed. It is not a St. Regis yet. The Adelaide Hotel Toronto is the transitional name. After renovation, it will change the name to St. Regis Toronto.
Also, the closest subway station is King Station, not St. Andrews.
Thank you! I will amend to add King in there! It’s actually a St. Regis now, http://www.starwoodhotels.com/stregis/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=4831&language=en_US
Also, I always ask for extra SPG drink cards at check-in & the front desk always complies
Freak out cos we just checked into our suite at the brand spanking new Fairmont in Austin, & there is so much similarity with the room design/furnishings/decor to be truly scary. I am usually an all-in Fairmont fan re: any Canadian location, but your pix & review of the St Regis are definitely on par.
Great post because you made me want to stay there! Question though…you were in a suite & mentioned great service yet no word of SR’s famous butler service which I love. Does this property offer it? Thanks
