Travel Tabloids – Weekly Roundup

Travel Tabloids is a collection of the craziest travel related stories from around the web for the previous week or so.  Instead of gumming up your feed reporting on these as they happen we will post them all together, once per week.

This woman was stalked by a creepy guy at a Marriott hotel but the hotel staff did next to nothing.  The man was placing notes under her door.  It also took the Marriott Twitter team around 10 hours to respond even though multiple people were tagging them.  Not a good look for Marriott or the local police for that matter. I am glad she made it out safely.

Las Vegas airport controller heard slurring her words as alarmed pilots respond – CBS News

You can listen to the audio here.  Pretty scary when the person controlling traffic at an airport as busy as LAS to goes dark for almost an hour.  I am glad the pilots were able to navigate it safely on their own.  How does an airport have controllers working on their own though.  What if the person has a stroke, which is what my first thought was here, and there is no one else there?  This came from the incident:

“On Friday, the FAA changed its staffing rules to ensure two controllers in the tower before midnight.”

It should be at all times though.

I am surprised that American Airlines didn’t investigate this at all or write someone up.  Well maybe I shouldn’t be.

This sounded like adding more time to the process when I originally saw it.  But the way they explain it I think it could make it more seamless.  It takes the human element out of the equation.  The only issue is the IT must be good; if it is poorly done then it could be a hot mess.
