W Hotels Brand Coming to Las Vegas

Ten years ago THEHotel at Mandalay Bay converted to Delano. Now that same property will undergo another rebrand, bringing the W Hotels brand to Las Vegas.

MGM Resorts International and Marriott International announced the news today, bringing the iconic property in the Marriott Bonvoy® portfolio. The transition is expected to be completed later this year, and it marks the latest step in the long-term strategic licensing agreement between the two companies.

Since MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy officially launched in March 2024, Marriott says that bookings are significantly outpacing anticipated projections with hundreds of thousands of room nights booked.

“We’re thrilled to continue working with MGM to bring W Las Vegas to the legendary Las Vegas Strip,” said Marriott International Chief Financial Officer and EVP Leeny Oberg in a statement. “This agreement is a pivotal moment in our collaboration, which continues to expand hospitality and entertainment offerings for guests. As a luxury brand rooted in bold design and nightlife, W Hotels is well-positioned to elevate experiences for travelers in this destination.”

Located on the Mandalay Bay Campus, the Delano property is slated to officially join the W Hotels portfolio in late 2024, with additional plans for the property to be announced in the future.

The companies have not mentioned any upgrades related to this transition, so this will likely be just a simple rebrand.

  1. MGM should add attractions to this end of the strip. The hotel doesn’t need a brand refresh; it needs a reason for people to be there. It can be as simple as a free outdoor “show” similar to what Mirage had.
