Welcome Bonus Rules for Citi Strata Premier Card
Earlier this month Citi made a small change to bonus eligibility terms for the Citi Strata PremierSM Card.
Originally, this card has the standard 48 months language which prohibited you from getting the bonus if you had received a bonus during that time period on a Citi Premier or Citi Strata Premier card.
Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier® or Citi Strata Premier℠account in the past 48 months.
Now the terms have been updated. While it may not affect many people, this change excludes more customers from being eligible for the welcome bonus. It also takes into account bonuses on other Citi cards, if that card is then converted to a Citi Strata Premier Card.
Here’s are the terms listed on the Citi website now:
Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier® or Citi Strata Premier℠account in the past 48 months or if you converted another Citi credit card account on which you earned a new account bonus in the last 48 months into a Citi Premier® or Citi Strata Premier℠account.
Conclusion
Citi has changed the terms of the welcome offer on the Citi Strata Premier card. If you earn a welcome bonus on another card and then change that card to the Citi Strata Premier card, that will affect you Citi Strata Premier bonus eligibility.
The new rule seems to discourage Citi cardholders from product changing their cards to the Citi Strata Premier.

It’s also on the co-branded cards, not just the Strata Premier. Shows up on the new AAdvantage 75k offer as well.
This change seems a bit superfluous. Dear God, you could only get the bonus every four years at best before. Did they have to make it more restrictive?
