125,000 Points When You Upgrade to Amex Platinum Card

There several new targeted upgrade offers for the Amex Platinum Card. You can now earn up to 125,000 Membership Rewards if you’re lucky enough to find the offer in your accounts. Let’s see the details.

Amex Platinum Upgrade Offer Details

The offer is as follows:
  • Upgrade to the Amex Platinum Card and earn an extra 125,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 in purchases on the Card in the first six months of Card Membership.
    • Other possible upgrade offers include bonuses or 100,000 points, 75,000 points, or 50,000 points.
  • You will be charged the $695 annual fee (or a proration of it).

There’s no link where you can check if you are targeted. You just need to log into your accounts either online or in the Amex app.

Amex Platinum Card Highlights

Here are some of the benefits of this card:

  • $200 in annual Uber savings ($15 every month plus a bonus $20 in December)
  • $200 in statement credits per calendar year for airline incidental fees. Enrollment required.
  • $200 Hotel Credit for prepaid bookings at Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • $100 in statement credits annually for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue or Saks.com. That’s up to $50 on a semi-annual basis. Enrollment required.
  • $240 Digital Entertainment Credit ($20/month)
  • Global Entry or TSA Precheck statement credit
  • $189 CLEAR Credit annually.
  • Access to over 1,400+ airport lounges, including The Centurion lounge, Delta Sky Clubs, Airspace Lounges and Priority Pass Select membership
  • Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status
  • Hilton Honors Gold Status
  • Walmart+ Monthly Membership Credit

Should You Take the Offer?

Normally, if you have never had the Amex Platinum card then taking this upgrade offer will trigger the once per lifetime language on the Amex Platinum card. So you would technically not be eligible for a future welcome offer on the card (the enforcement doesn’t always match the terms here).

But the 125,000 points offer is better than what’s normally available as a signup bonus, so it could be worth it for some even if they never had the Amex Platinum Card in the past. But take a look at this Resy offer first which sometimes has 15X on dining as well, or check referral links from friends and family members if you never had this card in the past (5-7 years).

Final Thoughts

This is an amazing upgrade offer for those who have the Amex Gold card. You can earn up to 125,000 points after spending $6,000 in six months.
